Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1963 under the headship of Dr B.S. Fadnis. The post graduate students in Mathematics are encouraged to carry out research work leading to the award of Ph.D. of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj, Nagpur University. The department has presently Eight sanctioned teaching staff comprising of Two Professors, Three Associate-Professors and Three Assistant Professor. The University Grant Commission (UGC) funded the department under Special Assitance Programme (SAP-DRS I and II). Also, Department of Science and Tectnology (DST) funded under the scheme "Fund for Inprovement of Science and Technology Infrastructure" (FIST). The Faculty members have been carried out many research projects funded by various funding agencies like UGC. Now, the Departmnet got Academic Autonomy since 2021. Hence, the curriculam for M.Sc. programme is actively updated time-to-time, so that it encourages research activeities as well as prepare the students to choose carrier options in various fields. Various fields of Mathematics in which research is being carried out which includes Relativity, Cosmology, Fluid Mechanics, Thermoelasticity, Operational research, Magneto-hydrodynamics, Topology, Algebra. Faculty of the department actively involved in various academic activities nationally and internationally.
