Features
Hostel Facilities - A 'HOME' away from home
The University has separate hostel facility for Boys & Girls with all basic amenities and accommodates students from all over India. Two hostels are located in the University campus, two at the LIT campus, one at the Law College premises and the rest at the North Ambazari Road, about three km from the main University campus. The hostel charges are moderate. One of the hostels, named after Dr. Nelson Mandela is for international students. Various recreational facilities like colour TV, indoor and outdoor games, film projectors and amenities like telephones, internet facility & water filter are available at the hostels.
BEST PRACTICES
The feedback questionnaire is prepared to collect the On-line information on the Student’s learning experience, as well as responses to the course and the teacher(s) eliciting their subjective perceptions on various aspects of the course and the teachers involved in the course programme. Ultimately, this information is useful to the teachers as well as to the University in the ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education & upgrading curriculum of the subject. Further, the information is also being collected from this feedback for shouldering social responsibilities in addition to their academic activities as well. The faculty members periodically assess the students by seminar, class test and group discussion.
To bridge the gap between the industry & institution interface, the Centre has already taken steps in this direction, thereby introducing professionalism and career orientation in the Biotech related courses. & the candidates are required to submit a full time Dissertation / Field Based Project Work on a related research topic of Biotechnology in the IV Semester. The work is expected to be an original work & critical analysis of a problem of contemporary significance in the field of Biotechnology. Further, the main emphasis is given on the assessment & accreditation of the students with the incorporation of accerdidated Seminar to assess the student’s progression from current requirements of industries rather than merely on University Examination basis. Thus an effective Feedback system from Student’s community & Industrial employer is being implemented in order to improve the quality of education.
Study tour: Students of M.Sc. Biotechnology are encouraged to visit some research institutes of national and international repute during the two-year course.
Seminars: Seminar along with submission of its written summary / Write-Up is mandatory for every student.
Summer Training Programme: Every student is encouraged to undergo the summer/ winter training Programme in Biotechnology Industry/R & D Institutions for at least 2 weeks during the vacations.
