M.Sc. Teaching Programme in Biotechnology & Ph.D. in Biotechnology
The course is divided into four semesters. For all the semesters, there are four theory papers; first three semesters carry Two Practical Labs each with accredited seminars. Additionally, the fourth semester is comprised of project research work / dissertation. The syllabi include thematic areas on Cell Biology, Genetics, Enzymology; Macromolecules and Biophysical techniques; Microbial physiology, Industrial Biotechnology & Biostatistics; Ethics, Patenting, Molecular Biology, Basic rDNA Technology, Diagnostic & Therapeutic Medical Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Immunology & Bioinformatics; Animal & Plant Biotechnology; Genetic Engineering as theory papers. The Practicals are related to the above aspects in all the semesters. The seminar is based on the holistic themes in Biotechnology and its applied aspects / applications along with a project research work/ dissertation during the fourth semester. Each theory paper is divided into four units and all the units carry equal weightage. All theory papers and practicals are compulsory.
The syllabus is based on 18 theory periods and 16 practical periods per week. Candidates are required to pass separately in theory and practical examinations.
